Dear sir/madam,
I write with reference to the petition to the petition:
‘We call on the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to ensure that free childcare for 3-4 year olds is delivered more flexibly across Wales allowing parents, and in particular working parents, to choose when and where they access the free childcare.
1. I am a working mother who is unable to access early years education for my three year old daughter under the current system within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
2. The current provision of early years education for my three year old prevents me from developing professionally and enabling me to increase my working hours.
3. I have considered alternative child care provision at a private nursery but this is too costly. Therefore I have to maintain reduced hours at my workplace in order to care for my daughter after the child care sessions.
We do not have choice in the sessions that are offered either (ie morning or afternoon sessions) which makes working very difficult
4. I feel that is inequitable and discriminatory that other areas have the wrap around facility which allows flexibility with child care and allows parents to choose the correct child care and work life balance for their child and family.
I hope that you will consider these comments seriously as I feel strongly that the change is necessary for the benefit of the children and their families.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Dawn Daniel
